Wootface, LLC
A small software company building things families actually use.
Wootface is an independent software company registered in Colorado. We build a small number of products carefully rather than many quickly, and we work on software for households — the ordinary, daily, slightly tedious business of running a family.
What we’re building
docade
In developmentJobs, tickets, and an arcade. Children see the jobs that are theirs today, earn tickets for finishing them, and spend those tickets in an arcade of games and prizes their parent has chosen. Parents get the other half: they set the work, approve it, and can undo anything.
docade is being tested with a small number of families before any wider release. It is our first product.
How we build
Our products are used by children, which changes what is acceptable. These are rules in our code, not intentions:
Built for the phone in your hand
Every screen is designed for a phone first and a desktop second, because that is where a family actually uses software — standing in a kitchen, not sitting at a desk.
Children never handle money
Where a product of ours involves earning, children see a play currency and never a cash balance they control. Money stays an adult concept, on adult screens.
No dark patterns on a child’s screen
No advertising, no purchases, no links out, and no messaging with strangers. A child-facing screen contains only what a parent has put there.
Your data stays yours
A parent can export everything held about their household in one file, and can permanently delete it. Both are built, not promised — deletion removes the records rather than hiding them.
